CUSTOM-MADE MOUTHGUARDS

  

If you play sports, chances are you will need a mouthguard.  Why you ask?  Well... did you know that sports, leisure and recreation activities are the most common cause of dental injuries?  PLUS, if you're under the age of 25 you are over 70% more aat risk.  A custom-fitted and custom-made mouthguard will give your teeth, lips and jaw the best protection during sports because their shock absorption factors will help with impact and their close fit will ensure extreme comfort. 

We all know dental injuries are very painful, not to mention expensive, so why not plan ahead and protect your natural teeth before it's too late.  A mouthguard, custom-fitted by the team at Complete Denture Care that is worn whenever you train or play will protect you against unwanted, nasty dental injuries.  

  

Common dental injuries incurrred without a mouthguard:

  • Cut lips
  • Cut gums
  • Cut cheeks
  • Cuts to the tongue, biting through the tongue
  • Cuts on your jaw, or teeth through your cheeks
  • Chipped teeth
  • Broken teeth
  • Relocated teeth
  • Knocked out teeth
  • Broken jaw.

  

Custom-fitted mouthguards are highly recommended for the following sports:  

All contact sports including rugby union, rugby league, AFL, boxing, basketball, netball, cricket, hockey and soccer.

  

Caring for your custom-made Mouthguard

  • After you have used your custom-made mouthguard, be sure to rinse it thoroughly in soap and warm (not hot) water then allow it to air-dry (before you put it back in your case).
  • When not in use (or drying) keep your custom-made mouthguard in it's case to avoid contamination and loosing it.
  • Use mouthwash occassionally (every 5-6 time you use it) to wash and distinfect your cutstom-made mouthguard.
  • Ensure that you keep your mouthguard in a well-ventilated plastic storage box when not in use. Your Complete Denture Care mouthguard comes with a complimentary storage box.
  • Replace adult’s mouthguard after dental treatment or tooth loss - if you don't experience this, your mouthguard will last for years.
  • Childrens mouthguard - Needs to be replaced every 12 to 18 months as growth and new teeth will alter the fit.
  • Never leave the mouthguard in direct sunlight - Heat will damage it.
  • Never leave your mouthguard in a closed car or in the car’s glove box - Heat will damage it.
