THE MAKING OF YOUR DENTURE

  • Generally there will be 5 appointments over a period of 2-3 week period dependant on your availability and our Clinic bookings.
  • Metal partial dentures will take an extra week due to the metal construction.
  • Then 1 or 2 appointments (depending on individual requirements) for post insertion checks to alleviate any sore spots. These appointments are at no additional cost to you.

Appointment 1:  Consultation

Your first appointment is your inital consultation with our Prosthetist. During this consultation you are encouraged to discuss your desired dental outcome, expressing any concerns or specific requirements you would like.  Our Prosthetist will talk you through what can be attained, how long it will take and the cost involved.  If you would like to proceed, our Prosthetist can take your first set of Impressions. Payment of one third deposit is requried at the first appointment if you choose to start the process then. If you would like to think about it, you can book another appointment which is when your first impressions will be taken.

Appointment 2:

Second Impressions are taken inside individually designed trays.

Appointment 3:

Bite Blocks – bite registration.  This is when you discuss with our Prosthetist teeth colour and teeth shape you prefer to suite your individual requirement.

Appointment 4:

Place wax setup dentures into your mouth.  You decide if you like the style of the setup, changes can be made at this stage.  We encourage you to take your denture home at this stage to view in a more relaxed environment.  Once you are satisfied with the look of the denture you give Mark the OK to go through to the processing stage.  Once the denture has been processed it cannot be changed.

Appointment 5:

Your final appointment for the construction of your denture and balance of payment due.

Note: If you are having an immediate denture fitted (i.e. teeth extracted and a denture put in place immediately), over a period of time your gum tissue will recede and your denture will become loose.  This is when a Reline will be required, this may be at 3-6 months.  Some clients only require one reline, some two relines, it can not be predicted.  This is an overnight process for full dentures and is an additional cost to you.
